ENTRY DEADLINE exendd to July 1: In response to competitor requests, the board approved moving the postmark deadline back to July 1 for the HorseFest shows, to be held in Huron SD on July 18 & 19. Entries postmarked after July 1 will be charged late fees.
Our thanks to Nebraska Dressage Association member Steve Gerdes for being our volunteer show manager/secretary; he is processing all entries and scheduling. Other volunteers are needed, including scribes, gate personnel, runners, etc... Thank you, in advance, for your help with the HorseFest shows!

We are starting at 8:15a.m. both days. SUNDAY RIDERS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO MEET WITH THE JUDGE for review of test sheets and coaching; donation of $20+ per rider requested.
The late entry fee for the Bismarck Final Frontier shows has been reduced to only $25 per rider for the entire weekend. At the June DDE meeting, the group voted to make this change, in a response to the economy and to assist people in still entering the show, as it was not full yet. If you still want to enter these shows, CALL the show secretary right away, Joann at 402.639.3575. You can mail the entry, or fax the ENTIRE entry, including everything you mail & the check to 888.450.2496, and then present the entire original entry at the office at check in time.
REMINDER: All entries for the Bismarck Final Frontier Shows need to be postmarked on or before June 6, or late fees apply. We'll see you at the shows on June 27 & 28th!

DDE continues to hold monthly teleconference meetings, to make it easy for everyone to participate in running club business. Each person calls in to a long distance number, and everyone is connected via conference call - pay only your own long distance fees, if applicable. The Eastern Plains Chapter of DDE is planning a clinic series to be held south of Sioux Falls, and a fall trail ride.
Katie Minter Dykhouse will be returning to the Sioux Falls area for a clinic series this summer. Dates include: June 26 & 27, July 10 & 11, August (date TBA) and September 18 & 19. Thanks to hosts Laurel Peterson & Dawn Jamison for the generous donations of the use of their barns/arenas! Laurel's is just north of Lennox, and Dawn's is just west of Sioux Falls.
Katie offers lessons from beginners through advanced riders in jumping and dressage. A TRAIL RIDE is planned for October 3 at Newton Hills, near Canton SD. The state park features camping with horse corrals, and 6 miles of trails. Call Jen Torsnety at 605.464.1115 to sign up.
Info about Newton hills is online at http://www.sdgfp.info/Parks/Regions/Heartland/NewtonHills.htm The state park does require a $6 per vehicle per day fee (or annual permit), and ten horse camping sites are available at $16 each, and maybe reserved through the website.
The Eastern Plains chapter will meet on Saturday, April 18th at 130 pm at the Pizza Ranch in Tea, SD.
The May meeting is scheduled for Saturday, May 9th.

Attached is the Pierre SD Schooling show prize list, for the June 6th schooling show. There is a clinic that follows too... you are welcome to come for one or both! The schooling show features in hand, dressage classes, jumping, and cross country - including low options at all fences! This is a great schooling show to bring your youngsters, 2 or 4 legged, to gain more experience.
