UPDATES for July 16, 17, 18 Shows in Huron SD

UPDATED 9 am on 7/15 - - Friday's order of go attached below

FRIDAY's arabian/part arabian sport horse show will start at 1:00 pm. The classes will run in numerical order, with all the in hand being first. After in hand is complete, there will be a 20 minute break, and then the riding classes will start. There are 22 entries in the in hand division, so we anticipate the riding will start at *about* 3:00 pm (this is an approximate time, classes will run in order). The show is double judged, so 2 judges judge each class the entire time. THE ORDER OF GO IS ATTACHED AS A DOC BELOW FOR YOUR USE *** During the arabian riding classes, there will be a show ring and a warm up ring. Riders from the weekend show may also be in the warm up ring area and ride. The dressage arena will be set up immediately after the group classes are complete; we respectfully ask that if you can spare 20 or 30 minutes to help us set up the ring, please do come help. We'll announce in the barn when we need help to do this. Thank you in advance, its very much appreciated!

SATURDAY & SUNDAY's show schedules are being completed now... due to several riders on multiple horses, we are trying to accomodate this, and accomodate late entries, and some entry changes. The show will start at 7:00 a.m. both days! It appears the Sunday show will be done by 4:00 pm, but the Saturday show will be a longer day, getting over around 7:00 pm (again, we have late entries coming in yet today, so we are working to finalize this). We will continue to update you as we finish things tonight and Thursday morning.

The CLINIC will have a lecture on Monday and Tuesday mornings at the Crossroads restruarant, social at 7:30 a.m. and lecture at 8:00 am until 11:00 a.m. and lessons after this. Auditors very welcome to attend, please see flyer for all details!

Our thanks, in advance, to all for the many hours of volunteer time that go into funding, organizing, and running the weekend of shows... Enjoy your trips down the center line, and around the triangle!

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Thanks to some generous sponsors, a second judge has been added to the July 16, 17, and 18, 2010 weekend in Huron SD. Diane Royce, an R dressage judge from Walla Walla WA is joining Gail Hoff Carmona, S dressage judge and DSHB judge. Friday's Arabian & Part Arabian Sport Horse show will now be TWO shows, concurrently judged, and double points! You will pay $40 total per class ($20 per class per judge). The show will start on Friday at 2:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday will now have 2 judges, and we will have each judge some classes, and where possible, have them judge a few classes together, to help our competitors trying for year end awards.

The fair grounds staff has now also told us we can get double stalls; these will be set up in the Hippodrome area, and will be charged at a double rate for each night, and are 2 of the portable stalls together, with no center wall. They are also installing new insulation in the Beef Complex.

SILENT AUCTION - a silent auction will be held over the weekend too. If you have an item you will be bringing, please email the club at DDEnewsletter@gmail.com so we may be ready for it, and advertise some of the great things that will be there. Non horse related items are welcome too!

CLINIC deposits - if you have not sent in your deposit for the clinic - do so today! email Teddie at Teddie.Adamski@state.sd.us to let her know you are coming!

OPPORTUNITY CLASS INFO

Those experienced at Quarter Horse shows are familiar with the term “opportunity classes” and now recognized dressage shows will be able to offer a similar chance for people to compete at a recognized show in an “introductory” fashion.

Opportunity Classes can now be held at Recognized shows, and DDE is taking advantage of this new program. Opportunity classes allow a person to ride a horse in these classes, and the USDF and USEF member ships are not required and the USEF drug fee is waived, provided you are only in these Opportunity classes. The number of Opportunity Classes is regulated by the level of the show being held, and the entire Opportunity class program is governed by USEF rules.

Below are a few examples of how these classes will work, as we understand the new rules from the USEF and USDF staff:

Scenario 1 – You have never shown at a recognized show, and enter Opportunity classes only, with a horse that has never gotten a USDF or USEF numbers, and you have no USEF or USDF memberships. You will pay only the office fees, class fees, and stall/bedding fees; the USDF and USEF membership fees and horse ID number fees are waived, as is the drug fee.

Scenario 2 – You are a trainer, with a client’s horse that has never been in a dressage show. The horse has no ID numbers for USDF or USEF, and the owner has no USDF or USEF memberships. If you only enter this horse in the opportunity classes, there is no need to purchase these memberships, they are waived, as is the drug fee.

DDE has added two training level tests each day of recognized compeition to give our customers an 'opportunity' to take advantage of this! Enjoy your trips down centerline.
